- Education background in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field.
- Higher Degree (MSc / PhD) in a relevant field desirable.
- Minimum ten plus years relevant industry experience or within a consultancy environment.
- Extensive working knowledge of EU/UK and global chemical notification regimes & chemicals hazard management / communication gained from industry or consultancy experience essential.
- Proven experience of creation and management of data submission dossiers for EU/UK and global jurisdictions.
- Excellent Project Management skills working on regulatory projects and delivering timely results for global Clients essential.
- Experienced in hazard classification and strong understanding of the toxicological & eco-toxicological properties of chemicals with respect to chemical safety and the requirements for chemicals notification in multiple jurisdictions.
- Sound knowledge of organic / inorganic chemistry, chemical structures and naming conventions.
- Experienced in chemical characterization techniques and data interpretation.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication (verbal, written, listening and presentation) skills in fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment.
- Successful track record undertaking business development activities from lead, to offer, to contract desirable.
- Experienced user of Government / Competent Authority online notification software.
- Experience of exposure scenario tools for notification dossiers.
- Mathematics for scientific applications.
- Good IT literacy skills (Microsoft Office, Subscription Database Services).
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYThe role of Senior Regulatory Specialist is a client facing role managing business development leads and determination and planning of notification strategies. The role involves project cost planning, preparation of contracts and negotiation with Clients.Key activities:
- Working with minimum supervision, apply in a safe, legal, and ethical manner, technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to support global chemicals management compliance projects.
- Follow up on new leads and requests from existing Clients to secure invitations to quote. Prepare notification strategies, cost plans, develop written proposals and follow through to contract. Prepare and submit Client notification dossiers (UK / EU REACH a priority), and work with global colleagues to facilitate the submission of foreign language dossiers. Promote Assuris world-wide notification services through participation in webinars, seminars, conferences and Client face-to-face meetings.
- Manage workload with minimal supervision to agreed delivery targets (do the right thing, with precision, pace and passion). Monitor and maintain expert knowledge of applicable chemicals management regulations for those jurisdictions where Assuris is active.
- Contribute to the overall performance of HERS through the embodiment of team values. Support local and global colleagues with respect to knowledge sharing and skills development. Contribute to coaching of junior team members.
- Develop and maintain professional contact with Clients. Organize project tel. conf. / MS Teams / Skype meetings as required. Participate in Client face-to-face meetings to develop Client relationships and progress projects.
- Apply skills, knowledge, experience, available tools and teamwork to create and exploit new opportunities to grow a sustainable business.
