Senior Research Associate in ESRC Research Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science

Full-time Research Associate Grade 7 (£36,386 per annum)

Fixed-term post beginning 1st May 2023 for 8 months

The Department of Linguistics and English Language at Lancaster University seeks to appoint a Senior Research Associate to work full time for eight months in the ESRC Research Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science. The Centre was founded in 2013 and was awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education in 2015. Its current ESRC-funded core research programme focuses on corpus approaches to health communication. 

You will have a PhD in Linguistics or a related area, a track-record of conference presentations and publications commensurate with your career stage, and experience in the use of corpus methods in the analysis of language and texts. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that includes academics from the Departments of Linguistics & English Language, Politics, Philosophy & Religion, and the Institute for Health Research. 

You will conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on a range of different types of corpus data, and present the results of the analyses to both academic and non-academic audiences through different media.
