University of East Anglia, Norwich
Description
FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES
NORWICH MEDICAL SCHOOL
Senior Research Associate in Health Economics (Mental Health) (full-time or part-time considered at a minimum of 0.7fte, fixed term from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2026)
Ref: RA2113
Salary on appointment will be £35,333 per annum with an annual increment up to £42,155 per annum, pro rata for part-time.
In this role you will work within the Health Economics Group at Norwich Medical School, and in the Health Economics and Prioritisation (HEP) Theme of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, East of England (ARC EoE).
In your first 12 months, you will contribute to an economic analysis of a Staff Mental Health Service (SMHS) in Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). This project is funded by an Evelyn Trust Health and Wellbeing grant, and facilitated by the ARC EoE.
Since COVID-19, rates of poor mental health amongst NHS staff have risen sharply. In response to this urgent need for mental health support, CPFT set up the rapid access service for NHS staff in the region. It is among the first of such services in the UK. This project aims to create an evidence base that can be used by other services, and will assist commissioners, researchers, and policy makers in providing appropriate mental health support to NHS staff.
You will be based at UEA in Norwich, working with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, clinicians and patient and public representatives from the mental health community across CPFT, and the University of Cambridge.
Subsequent to the successful delivery of the SMHS study, you will input across a range of projects, potentially ranging from applied economic evaluations to stated preference research.
As a group we encourage personal development and capacity building. You will have the opportunity to assist with the preparation of funding bids, research governance, supervision of students or others working in this area, and similar research tasks.
The post is ideally suited to an individual with a background in health economics, or similar field with a major quantitative component (e.g. health services research, data analysis, data science or decision modelling). You must be familiar with methods of health economic evaluation and/or decision modelling. Experience of economic studies in public health and/or mental health would be advantageous.
This is a fixed term post from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2026. Applicants can apply for the role as full-time or part-time (minimum of 70% of full-time equivalent). Please indicate your preference when applying. We are open to considering flexible working patterns in line with the appropriate UEA policy.
Benefits include:
- 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and University Customary days, pro rata for part-time.
- Family and Work-life balance policies including hybrid working and considerable maternity, paternity, shared parental leave and adoption leave.
