About usThe Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology undertakes world-leading research, teaching and knowledge translation in human behaviour, and its role in relation to global challenges in, primarily, health and the environment. It brings together researchers across disciplines in the behaviorual and social sciences and areas such as medicine, computer science and engineering.Within the Research Department, the UCL Centre for Behaviour Change (CBC) brings together academics, policy-makers, practitioners and others from a wide range of academic disciplines, creating a vibrant hub for developing ideas, new technologies, theories and evidence about behaviour change, and translating these to achieve real-world impact.We are seeking a behavioural scientist with excellent theoretical and methodological expertise and a knowledge of ontologies and user testing to develop the Behaviour Change Intervention Ontology and new tools and resources for applying it. The full-time 5-year post will support a project funded by the National Institutes of Health: Accelerating Behavioral and Social Sciences through Ontology Development and Application: NIH Research Network Project (APRICOT) and being conducted by an international interdisciplinary team with the aim of accelerating the use of ontologies across the behavioural and social sciences. The project is starting in Autumn 2024. This multi-site project is led by Professor Susan Michie, the line manager for this post.Please note that due to NIH funding conventions, the post will be offered for 1 year in the first instance (to 31 August 2025) and renewed annually thereafter. The post is likely to appointed at Grade 8, Point 38 (£52,487) in the first instance.About the roleThis post will build on, and require a good knowledge of, the Behaviour Change Intervention Ontology( ). The role will require close liaison with the investigators and researchers at the other three sites. The postholder will help to co-ordinate and manage the work with a focus on external stakeholders and user testing.The role will require strong conceptual, organisational and analytical skills, alongside knowledge of methodological approaches to evidence reporting and synthesis of behavioural or other psychological interventions. The post will appeal to researchers with the enthusiasm, resilience and curiosity to take responsibility for research in challenging and uncharted territory.
