Approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups, consisting of PIs, scientific officers, postdoctoral scientists, and PhD students, drive cutting-edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis. Its research ethos is about excellence, honesty, openness, accountability, and integrity.Position outlineThe Translational Molecular Imaging Facility underpins advanced cancer research at the Cancer Research UK Scotland Institute. We work closely with research groups to develop innovative methods for visualising molecular pathways in cancer. Led by Dr. David Lewis, our diverse team of scientists oversees a wide range of advanced molecular imaging projects. We possess expertise in positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), radiochemistry, image analysis, and mouse modelling. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and directly contribute to maximising research output by collaborating on groundbreaking advances in PET/MR imaging.We seek a Senior Scientific Officer to work alongside our teams, delivering preclinical PET/MRI imaging projects in our state-of-the-art facility. A degree in Biology (or similar) is required. A PhD (or equivalent experience) is an advantage, along with experience in establishing in vivo mouse models and administering substances to laboratory animals. We value initiative, curiosity, enthusiasm, and a strong collaborative spirit.
