Dr Zoi Diamantopoulou –About usThe CRUK Scotland Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe’s leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis. Its research ethos is about excellence, honesty, openness, accountability and integrity.Position outlineA unique opportunity awaits to join the newly established laboratory of Dr Zoi Diamantopoulou at the CRUK Scotland Institute. We are seeking an enthusiastic team player to contribute to cutting-edge research projects funded by the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship. These projects investigate how the circadian rhythm affects the metastatic spread of cancer cells, building on our recent publication ( ).Ideal candidates will have a PhD in a relevant field and experience working with mouse models. A strong background in molecular biology, CRISPR technology, and cell culture techniques is essential. While experience in analysing patient samples and maintaining records is advantageous, it is not essential. Prior research experience with Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs), circadian rhythms or single-cell analysis methods would be advantageous, but we will provide appropriate training.
