Senior Scientist – High-Throughput Experimentation Synthetic ChemistryMacclesfieldIntroduction to role:Are you an experienced organic chemist with a passion for High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) techniques? If you’re excited by challenging, creative chemistry and pioneering equipment, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Join our team in Early Chemical Development at AstraZeneca’s Pharmaceutical Sciences organisation. Based in Macclesfield, you’ll be part of a vibrant and growing group of scientists dedicated to synthetic chemistry HTE.Accountabilities:As a lab-based Senior Scientist, you’ll actively contribute to AstraZeneca’s portfolio of drug projects. In a highly cross-disciplinary environment, you’ll use the most appropriate methods for carrying out experimental work to a high standard, including relevant automation. You’ll also have the opportunity to be part of external collaborations and publish scientific papers.Essential Skills/Experience:

• PhD degree or equivalent experience in Organic Chemistry or BSc/MSc with relevant industrial experience
• An excellent understanding of synthetic reagents and methodologies, reaction mechanisms and modern analytical techniques
• Recent practical experience in the area of synthetic chemistry: the ability to plan, prioritize and perform work independently, including synthetic route design and problem-solving.
• Great awareness of recent literature as well as current developments and trends in organic synthesis
• Highly self-motivated and capable of analysing complex data and deciding on Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
• Ability to communicate your work internally and externally in scientific papers and documents
• Excellent English both spoken and written

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Experience of High-Throughput Experimentation in organic synthesis
• Good understanding of reactions relevant to the pharmaceutical industry
