Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Sterling, Virginia. The successful candidate will be working in our office, predominantly focusing on payroll processing, project accounting, month and year-end closing, purchasing assistance, and accounts payable.
Responsibilities:
• Handling payroll processing tasks to ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time
• Overseeing project accounting, which includes reviewing and maintaining project costs, keeping organized files, and conducting budget cost reviews
• Assisting in month and year-end closing procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Serving as a backup and providing assistance in purchasing activities
• Assisting with accounts payable to ensure all invoices are paid in a timely manner
• Participating in inventory and bank reconciliations to detect and resolve any discrepancies
• Utilizing software systems such as Acumatica, ADP, and MS Office for various accounting tasks
• Conducting audit activities as required to ensure compliance with financial regulations
• Preparing and posting journal entries to the general ledger
• Assisting in month-end close procedures, including account analysis and report generation. Requirements • Must have at least 5 years of experience in the role of a Staff Accountant or a similar position
• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential
• Expertise in Bank Reconciliations is required
• Proficiency in managing General Ledger and Journal Entries is crucial
• Experience in Month End Close procedures is necessary
• Familiarity with ADP – Payroll system is required
• Experience in Project Accounting is a must
• Prior experience in Audit is necessary
• Proficiency in using Acumatica software is required
• Must be proficient in MS Office Suite
• Must have the legal right to work in the location of the job
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
• Willingness to undergo any necessary training or professional development activities
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
