Job Description:Leonardo is seeking to recruit experienced (Senior) Systems Engineers to join its Electronics UK business. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering leading edge solutions to challenging civilian and military projects.We are looking for someone passionate about our products, with a systems-thinking approach and proven experience within Integration & Testing. You will thrive in dynamic environments with the support of a diverse team.Given the nature of the work at this level the majority of the work will be carried out on-site, in Edinburgh.What you’ll do as an Integration & Test (Senior) Systems Engineer:You will be required to make technical decisions within your own sphere of influence. You will undertake various tasks within an Integrated Project Team, including preparation & planning, set-up, integration, execution and closure for the following activities:
- Roof Lab Tests/Investigations
- Environmental Qualification Testing
- EMC Qualification Testing
- Integration Lab Tests/Investigations
- Roof Lab Customer Integration events & demonstrations
- Integrate complex sub-systems onto flight test aircraft and support subsequent flight trials
- Support in-field platform integration including system software upgrades and investigations.
- Verification of the system and sub-system requirements including test reports
- System integration through close collaboration with software, firmware and hardware teams
- System and sub-system qualification testing including completion of test reports
- Active participation in test readiness and post-test reviews
- Defining, investigating and helping to resolve system issues
- Ensure all defined working practices are adhered to
What we’re looking for:Previous experience working within a similar electronics/systems/test/integration role would be advantageous, including experience/aptitude in the following:
- A willingness to work within a fast-paced and dynamic environment as a critical member of the team.
- Good practical experience of engineering within a commercial environment or an equivalent research and development organisation, including hands-on skills, with an ability to hook up main & test equipment together in a range of environments covering all aspects of the team’s work. This includes use of GPTE, such spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.
- Experience of verification and validation activities to achieve certification and delivery.
- Good team player with a willingness to share ideas and communicate well within an IPT environment, and liaise well with other departments including EED, Production, etc.
- Ability to interact with end-user communities on a range of technical and operational topics.
- Possession of, or working towards, qualifications in Electronic Engineering (HND, BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) or a related discipline or science, would be very beneficial.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation ability delivering high quality output, including being proficient in using MS-Office applications.
- Familiarity with MATLAB would be advantageous.
- IOSH certification would be advantageous but full training will be given.
- This is a broad-based role suited to a committed individual who will work across the team to help make things happen and get the job done.
- Ability to learn quickly and pick up new skills on the job from an experienced engineering team, who will provide mentoring and training as required.
- Willingness to work flexibly and occasionally support ad-hoc extended hours / weekend working to support the team/business would be advantageous.
- The role is primarily based at the Leonardo offices in Edinburgh, UK, with occasional travel within the UK and worldwide to our customer and end-user sites.
