For further information visit the .Full time, Fixed term (24 months)The Department of Classics at Royal Holloway University of London seeks to appoint a fixed-term Senior Teaching Fellow beginning on 2 September 2024.The appointee will be expected to have a record of excellent teaching in Classical Literature and especially Greek Literature in translation, or, in the case of early-career candidates, relevant experience and demonstrable potential. Experience of teaching undergraduate or postgraduate students in a university environment is essential. They should also have a excellent knowledge of Greek and Latin.The appointee will be expected to play a full and active role in teaching in the Department of Classics. They will be required to teach an introductory first-year module on Greek Literature (15 credits), and co-ordinate and contribute to the first-year skills-based module “Studying Classical Antiquity” (15 credits). They will also be expected to teach a second-year 30-credit module, preferably on Greek drama, and supervise second-year projects attached to this module. They will teach 50% of the third-year “Thinking Myth” module and will supervise final-year students’ dissertations. They will also be expected to develop a new third-year module which they will teach in the second year of their employment. In their second year, they will also help co-ordinate teaching for Foundation Year students. Additionally, the appointee will be expected to contribute to administrative duties, taking on an administrative role, to act as Personal Tutor to undergraduate students and to attend relevant meetings and committees, as required. They will work closely with the Head of Department, the UG Education Lead and other academic members of staff in areas including curriculum design, lesson planning, and the development and implementation of learning technologies.In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
