Position Status: Full-time, Exempt, Regular 

Salary Level: US Starting Salary for this role will be USD $64,000 to $76,000 commensurate on experience.

The Treasury Department

The Mercy Corps Treasury department is part of the Corporate Finance Team.  We report to the Chief Financial Officer.  Our primary roles are to protect the Organization’s financial assets from risk, assure the Organization’s overall liquidity, and be a service team to the entire organization. To achieve these goals, we establish and support the infrastructure to secure, manage and invest in the Organization’s financial assets, analyze and report financial data, and provide financial consulting to all team members.  

The Position 

The Senior Treasury Analyst creates actionable information from decentralized data sources. The Senior Treasury Analyst will also help manage working capital resources and funding country operations, coordinate insurance issues, and oversee our banking relationships. 

Essential Responsibilities 

TREASURY

  • Serve as a lead Treasury staff member under the Global Treasurer and will be responsible for daily cash management (investment of excess cash and cash forecasting) of the organization as well as key operational activities of the Treasury department.
  • Analyze bank statements and transactions to monitor daily liquidity and ensure enough cash is on hand for operational needs.
  • Develop and implement cash flow forecasting and other treasury reports to optimize cash utilization and present alternative cash forecasting processes as needed.
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with banking partners and financial institutions.
  • Serve as the primary account administrator for online banking and treasury systems.
  • Approve international and domestic wire, ACH, and wire payments and payment templates.
  • Ensure banking system issues are resolved timely by using existing techniques and developing alternative resolutions.
  • Manage the corporate card program by establishing and enforcing controls.
  • Review and analyze bank fees and other banking costs to identify cost reductions.

INVESTMENT

  • Review monthly investment reports to show cash is invested within agency policy.
  • Monitor and analyze investment performance to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Evaluate potential investment opportunities and manage excess operating cash to obtain optimum interest revenue.  

INSURANCE

  • Manage the annual renewal of the global insurance program and insurance claims.
  • Answer questions related to insurance.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the USG LOC draw process in partnership with International Finance and Corporate Accounting.
  • Perform ad-hoc FX analysis.
  • Assist with managing foreign exchange risk and other financial risks.
  • Monitor account receivables and timely follow-up for the late payments.
  • Research, recommend, and keep abreast of changes in the crypto environment.
  • Contribute to various cryptocurrency projects.
  • Monitor and manage the review of Treasury Policies.
  • Manage treasury management system (TMS) to automate process and improve efficiency.
  • Assist in developing treasury reporting dashboard and tracking KPIs.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards related to treasury operations.
  • Stay informed on treasury best practices and leverage company banking relationships to access tools and resources for developing proactive solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline treasury processes, enhance controls, and improve efficiency through automation and technology solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with international finance, accounting, legal, and other departments to support treasury initiatives.
  • Manage intranet information specific to department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Supervisory Responsibility: The Senior Treasury Analyst has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Reports Directly To: Global Treasurer 

Works Directly With: Corporate Finance, International Finance, Field Operations & Finance, Programs, Legal Department, Financial Institutions, Insurance Brokers & Carriers, other external service providers

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (or equivalent) and 4+ years of professional experience in similar positions.
  • Dissemination of accounting data is essential.
  • Ability to read and understand financial statements and reports.
  • Strong ability to do quantitative and qualitative analysis and modeling accurately is required.
  • Ability to convey financial information clearly and succinctly via tables and charts.
  • Advanced Office 365 skills are required.
  • Experience working with a Treasury Management System (Kyriba) is a plus.
  • Proven capability in working collaboratively with other teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrate assertive confidence when presenting information to other team members including the executive team.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with crypto and hedging in a corporate setting is a plus.
  • Experience in large organizations is a plus.
