The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewUnder the general direction of the Section Head and/or Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the incumbent:
- Performs high quality mammograms, specimen films and breast wire needle localization procedures.
- Performs breast examinations on all patients as well as teaching breast self-examinations to the patients.
- Books and organizes wire needle localization procedures as required by Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Mammography Accreditation Program and follow up appointments as necessary.
- Teaches mammography and breast self-examinations (BSE) to all x-ray students and radiology residents.
- Participates in quality control activities.
- Keeps accurate daily logs and monthly statistics.
Experience
- Minimum one-year recent experience at the General Duty X-Ray Technologist level required.
- Previous Mammography and Needle Localization experience preferred.
- Familiarity with RIS and PACS preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduation from a recognized school of Medical Imaging Technology.
- Clinical Breast Imaging certificate preferred.
- Mammography I and II training an asset.
- Continuing Education courses in Mammography required for Accreditation.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program.
- Eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and the Manitoba Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (MAMRT) upon hire and registered with the CAMRT and MAMRT within three months of hire.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

- Must exhibit good interpersonal and English written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion to all patients and recognize and calm those with a high-degree of anxiety.
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity.
