Our staff are at the heart of everything we do and achieve.What does the Serum Formulation team do?Randox is the 2nd largest manufacturer of Quality Control products globally. Diagnostic Laboratories are obliged to use these QC products to ensure the accuracy and precision of their processes and equipment used. Serum Formulation is one of the most important teams within Randox and it plays an essential role in the manufacturing process. This team is responsible for the formulation and filtration of a growing number of serum- based control products.Location: Randox Science Park, Antrim Town, Northern Ireland. State of the art facility.
Contract Offered: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours / Shifts: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. 6.00am-2.40pm and 10.00am-6.40pm.What does the Serum Formulation Scientist role involve?
This role is responsible for formulating Randox control materials by following the details departmental SOPS. This is an extremely varied role that will require you to develop an equally varied skill set including:

  • The operation and basic maintenance of various laboratory equipment and machinery
  • Calculation and the checking of scientific calculations in all types of scientific units for control manufacture.
  • Reviewing quality control test results and adjusting calculations as required
  • Stock control – ensuring all raw materials are in stock prior to formulations.
  • Involvement with formulating exciting new products in collaboration with R&D
  • Analysis of functional test data
  • Involvement with the introduction of new equipment and processes as part of a continual process improvement program
  • Meeting deadlines – ensuring all formulations and builds are formulated as per the manufacturing schedule
  • Record keeping – Accurate completion of formulation records for each product manufactured

This role would suit someone who has graduated in a Chemistry or Life Science degree. who wishes to develop their career with a global diagnostic manufacturer.Other Essential criteria:

  • At least qualified to Bachelor level in Chemistry or a Life Science
  • Ability to reliably operate different types of equipment and analytical instrumentation.
  • Eligibility to work within the UK
  • Flexibility around start and finish times when required due the nature of the formulation runs and schedule
  • Availability for a night shift on occasional Wednesday nights / Thursday mornings depending on the departmental schedule

Desirable:

  • Qualified to PhD level
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety, including CoSHH.
  • Experience using a stock control system, such as Sage.
