Expansion overseas sets some European nations on a path of imperial and colonial development which shapes international relations into the twenty-first century. The revival of classical forms revolutionizes art and architecture, and provides new models for education, politics, law, science, and gender relations. The split of the Christian Church into Protestant and Catholic denominations inspires intellectual and artistic creativity, sparks violent wars, and is brought around the globe by missionaries. Modern states and our fascination with determining ‘national identity’ take shape out of the competition between dynasties, social classes, faiths and territories.Minimum qualificationsMaster of Arts in History or related field required. Mastery of the subject area as related to the course description above required.Preferred qualifications: PhD in History preferred. Demonstrated evidence of superior undergraduate teaching preferred. Previous experience teaching a similar course is highly desirable..Description of duties:Course preparation, lecturing, marking. Supervision of TA(s) in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement. There will be 24 hours of lectures in this course and one office hour per teaching week.Duties of this position shall be performed at the campus on which the position is located.Estimated Course Enrolment: 80 students.Estimate of TA Support: 240 hoursSchedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00-13:00 In-person lecturesSessional Dates of Appointment: September 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024Rate of Pay:Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90 includes 4% vacation paySessional Lecturer 1, Long term: $9,930.79 includes 6% vacation paySessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77 includes 6% vacation paySessional Lecturer II, Long term : $10,326.61 includes 6% vacation paySessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76 includes 6% vacation paySessional Lecturer III, Long term : $10,570.01 includes 6% vacation payPlease note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Application instructions: Applications should be emailed to and must include:
