Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:This course is an introduction to education approaches and the role of the teacher in using research, theory, literature and multi-modal texts to teach and assess literacy and to support students’ literacy across the curriculum in K-10 classrooms. This course is normally open only to students in the Teaching program.Estimated course enrolment: 35Estimated TA support: NoneClass schedule: See job application site for schedule and mode of teachingSessional dates of appointment: Sep. 2024 to Apr. 2025Salary: As of May 01, 2024, the minimum stipend is $9,457.90 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum qualifications:“Candidates:
1. Should possess a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience,
2. Must demonstrate currency and mastery in the course subject matter;
3. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant;
4. Must demonstrate evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion;
5. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher-candidates’ professional learning;
6.
