It consists of a series of lectures, seminars, and laboratory workshops designed to emphasize the expectations, pedagogy, methodology, and content of science. The course is designed to assist students to explore: the teaching and learning process, the pedagogical considerations in teaching science; and the challenges of teaching science as a curriculum subject in schools with a diverse student population and research in science education. It is also designed to help develop the knowledge and skills of curriculum development within the context of curriculum theory and to support personal reflection within the context of contemporary classrooms or other education settings.Estimated course enrolment: 30Estimated TA support: NoneClass schedule: See job application site for schedule and mode of teachingSessional dates of appointment: Sep. 2024 to Apr. 2025Salary: As of May 01, 2024, the minimum stipend is $9,457.90 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum qualifications:Candidates:
1. Should possess a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience,
2. Must demonstrate currency and mastery in the course subject matter;
3. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant;
4. Must demonstrate evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion;
5. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher-candidates’ professional learning;
6.
