Sessional Lecturer – INFR 1110U – Programming for Games II – Winter 2025Tracking Code: req1335Faculty of Business and Information TechnologyNumber of Sections: 1Appointment Type: Limited TermSalary Grade: Administered in accordance with the Collective AgreementPosting Date: September 30, 2024Closing Date: November 11, 2024Course Name and Number: INFR 1110U – Programming for Games IILocation of classes: North CampusCourse Start Date: January 6, 2025Course End Date: April 25, 2025Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Business and IT, the Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to undergraduate students in INFR 1110U – Programming for Games II.The current schedule is:Thursdays 2:10PM – 5:00PM(This schedule is subject to changes)Responsibilities/Accountabilities:The primary responsibility of the applicant is to (develop and) teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description listed above. In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments. The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.Qualifications:In addition to the Required Education, Required Skills, and Required Experience set out below, the successful candidate will have a proven aptitude for teaching at the undergraduate level, with demonstrated potential for making excellent contributions to teaching.Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently, and will be for the duration of the contract, legally eligible to work in Canada.Note that this course will be delivered in-person at Ontario Tech University’s North Campus in Oshawa, Ontario.Required Education:The successful candidate must hold at least one of the following degrees:
Candidates with a Bachelors degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering may be considered if they also have at least three years of professional experience in programming for games. Candidates must outline their professional experience, including details about their role and responsibilities, past and present employers, and the name of a supervisor with whom the Faculty may confirm this information.Required Skills:Technical skillsIt is essential that the successful candidate is familiar with the Unity game engine and is able to program in C#. Candidates should ensure that they include details about their qualifications in this regard in their application.Teaching skillsThe successful candidate will have the following skills related to teaching and administration:
Required Experience:Academic or professional experience related to gaming is an asset; such experience can be demonstrated by any of the following:
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated teaching excellence in a gaming or information technology program in a post-secondary environment.
