Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:Course number and title: Sessional Lecturer – LHA1040H – Introduction to Educational Leadership and Policy: Policy, Leadership, Change and DiversityCourse description:This course provides an introduction to educational policy, leadership and change in general and to this program in particular by focusing on foundational concepts and theories significant to the understanding of education and educational administration. It offers a critical examination of a wide range of topics central to educational administration, educational policy, leadership and change, such as organization, community, power, authority, change, difference, leadership, and values. This examination will take into account major historical developments in the field as well as differing theoretical stances or paradigms, such as positivism, functionalism, interpretivism, critical pedagogy, feminism, post-structuralism and post-modernism. The course will help students understand how to use theory to make sense of educational practice in productive ways.Estimated course enrolment: 25 studentsEstimated TA support: NoClass schedule (Lectures): Wednesday 17:15 – 20:15; In-PersonSessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024Salary:Pay for half course, vacation pay included:Sessional Lecturer I: $9,182.42

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,262.15Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum qualifications:Candidates must hold a doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy or a related field; have a demonstrated record of scholarship in the field of Educational Leadership and Policy and the subject area of the course; have professional, advocacy, and/or knowledge mobilization experience in the area of PK-12 Educational Leadership and Policy; and have successful post-secondary teaching experience and a successful track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus.Preferred Qualifications:Experience teaching graduate-level courses.
