Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:Course number and title: MIE334H1 – Numerical Methods ICourse description: This introductory course to numerical methods includes the following topics: polynomial interpolation, numerical integration, solution of linear systems of equations, least squares fitting, solution of nonlinear equations, numerical differentiation, solution of ordinary differential equations, and solution of partial differential equations. Tutorial assignments using MATLAB will focus on engineering applications relevant to the background of students taking the course.Estimated course enrolment (approximately): 230Estimated TA support: TBDClass schedule:LEC0101Monday 9:00 AM – 10:00 AMWednesday 11:00 AM – 12:00 PMFriday 11:00 AM – 12:00 PMLEC0102Monday 12:00 PM – 1:00 PMWednesday 12:00 PM – 1:00 PMFriday 2:00 PM – 3:00 PMSessional dates of appointment: January to April 2025Salary: $13,000 (per half course inclusive of vacation pay) Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum qualifications: Applicants should have a strong record of presenting lectures or acting as a teaching assistant. Applicants must be able to demonstrate considerable depth of knowledge and experience in the subject area. All applicants should have excellent communication skills – both oral and written. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Limited License (LEL) is strongly preferred.
