This conceptual course looks at everyday objects to learn about the basis for our modern technological world. Topics may include anything from automobiles to weather. (PHY205H1 is primarily intended as a Breadth Requirement course for students in the Humanities and Social Sciences with no university-level background in physics. Any student with university-level credit in physics, including students with secondary school transfer credits in physics is ineligible to take this course).Number of Positions: 1Estimated course enrolment: 92 studentsEstimated TA support: TBA (TA support is contingent upon enrolment)Class schedule:Lectures: Tuesday 1:00pm-3:00pm and Thursday 1:00pm-3:00pmTutorials: Thursday 3:00pm-5:00pm (Please note the tutorials will be led by the Teaching Assistant)The delivery method for this course is currently in-person. • PhD in Physics required
• Previous experience in teaching introductory physics at the University level required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience teaching a similar course to non-science students

Description of duties:

• Coordination of an undergraduate course
• Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course
• Supervision and training of teaching assistant(s) assigned to course, including overseeing the TAs DDAH forms
• Preparation, supervision and grading of tests and examinations in accordance with University regulations; submission of final grades
• Providing scheduled office hours for academic counseling of students
