Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:STA4530HS: Derivatives for Institutional Investing (0.125 FCE per Instructor)This course explores the replication of financial derivatives from the standpoint of investment banks (“sell-side”) and the application of derivatives from the standpoint of pension funds, insurers, hedge funds, mutual funds and private equity funds (“buy-side”). The course is structured in three components: (i) the construction and trading of structured derivatives, (ii) the use of derivatives by the buy side, (iii) the synthesis of (i) and (ii) into case studies.Estimated Course Enrolment35Estimated TA Support25 hours. Currently active in the finance industry with at least five years’ experience in finance/insurance. Prior experience teaching at the university level. Prior experience teaching STA4530 or a similar course is an asset.Description of duties: Preparation and delivery of six lectures in this course. Supervision of teaching assistant(s) assigned to this course and paid by University.
