CLOSING DATE: July 12, 2024The following Sessional Lecturer position is available in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media for the Fall 2024 academic session. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, this posting is being sent as an email notification to all applicants in the Department’s Applicant Pool: all Sessional Lecturers who are teaching for the Department during the current academic year or who have taught for the Department since September 1, 2005, and all persons who have submitted an application within the past twenty-four months. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with 14:12.Application Process

Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90
Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term (Six or more years as SL I): $9,930.79
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77

HoursDutiesQualificationsVPSC90H3F Theory and Practice: Art and GlobalizationThis open-media studio-seminar will examine the relationship between contemporary art and globalizing and decolonizing forces, focusing on key topics such as migration, diaspora, colonialism, indigeneity, nationalism, borders, language, translation, and global systems of trade, media, and cultural production. Students will explore current art practices shaped by globalization and will conceive, research, and develop art projects that draw from their experiences of a globalizing world.LEC 01In-personTU 10AM -1 PMSeptember 1 – December 31, 2024200All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; participation in Studio’s exhibitions and guest lecture opportunities on campus; development, administration and marking of assignments and final portfolios; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours. Applicant to work closely with permanent faculty.Teaching experience at the university level. Instructor must have expertise teaching current artistic theory and practice related to decolonization, the globalization of culture, and media, and global art, as demonstrated in relevant teaching experience and artistic work.
