Winner of the 2020 John T Ryan Regional Safety Award and winner of the All Mines Safety Award 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019.The Opportunity:We are currently seeking a Shaft Planner/Scheduler to join our Logistics/Fixed Plant Team at Totten Mine in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.As a Shaft Planner/ Scheduler, you will be accountable for the planning of work for the Totten Mine Shaft and Logistics Department. There may be a requirement to provide relief supervision if needed.Additionally, in this position you will:
- Work Monday to Friday, 8 hours shift.
- Plan shaft maintenance and slinging activities.
- Process water management and improvement initiatives, as well as shaft sump management.
- Assist with hoist tracking metrics and monitoring.
- Manage shift calendar trackers for logistics and shaft crews and plan vacation scheduling.
- Plan PMP activities in conjunction with shaft plan requirements and other work groups.
- Possible relief for Superintendent as required.
- Review and communicate Risk Management situations with crew members at line-up and field discussions. Follow notification protocols for incidents and initiate on-shift investigations.
- Coordinate and facilitate with the Scheduler to ensure all required planning/scheduling routines are followed.
- Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of the “work schedule” for completion by Required End Date.
- Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned with an emphasis on safety and ready to be executed prior to the required end date as determined through the notification. Ensure WO user statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order. Ensure planned work orders are closed with proper time confirmations completed.
- Control inventories of consumables and supplies, and order materials to achieve production and/or maintenance schedules.
- Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including superintendents, supervisors, other schedulers, planners, crew members, etc.
- Relief supervisor as necessary which requires:
- Holding the crew accountable for safe behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Ensure planned work orders are closed with proper time confirmations completed.
- Work within budget, guidelines, and standards.
- Work with a crew to develop an interactive workplace environment.
About YouEducation:
- Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
- College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred.
- First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core is preferred.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate would have experience in a similar role and a background in planning, shaft, and logistics.
- Experience working within SAP and the Prometheus add-on as a Planner and Scheduler is preferred.
- Experience leading crews in a shaft environment is preferred.
Skills:
- Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
