Short-Term Consultants – Development Sector Research & Data Collection

Background

AF Development Care (AFDC), a leading consulting agency based in Asia, is collaborating with development partners to support various consulting assignments in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand. Our work spans baseline studies, endline evaluations, data collection, and analysis to strengthen evidence-based programming and policy interventions in these countries. To support these assignments, we are seeking experienced short-term consultants with expertise in development research and field data collection.

Scope of Work

The consultants will be engaged on a short-term basis for specific assignments related to research, evaluation, and capacity building. The key responsibilities include:

• Conducting baseline and endline surveys, including field data collection using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
• Supporting data analysis and report preparation to provide evidence-based insights.
• Conducting Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with relevant stakeholders.
• Providing training and capacity-building sessions for data collectors and local partners.
• Ensuring ethical and culturally appropriate research practices.
• Collaborating with AFDC and development partners to deliver high-quality results within tight timelines.

Eligibility Criteria

• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in development sector research, data collection, and capacity-building training.
• Country of Residence: Must be currently based in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, or Thailand.
• Language Proficiency: Proficiency in the local language of the respective country is mandatory.
• Skills: Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including experience using tools such as ODK, KoboToolbox, or similar data collection platforms.
• Availability: Must be available at short notice for short-term consultancy assignments.
