If so, we have the perfect role for you!The Sir Anthony Habgood Professor of Coastal Science and Climate Change has arisen due to the benefaction of Sir Anthony Habgood and provides a unique opportunity for a leading academic to shape the future of coastal research in the UK and more widely.The successful candidate will hold a Professor (Chair) position at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia.This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a coastal research centre that is interdisciplinary and responds to the societal need for solutions with reduced teaching responsibilities, allowing for greater focus and freedom.Coastal areas in East Anglia, nationally and beyond are experiencing significant changes, this is expected to continue and likely accelerate due to climate change and sea-level rise. Join us in leading research on improving our understanding of changing coastal areas and using this to find sustainable long-term solutions.In this role you will develop and lead a coastal research group with a focus on impact and innovative solutions and will take a prominent leadership role in the research life of the Tyndall Centre and School of Environmental Sciences. You will produce high-quality research publications and proposals to secure relevant external funding on coastal research and will supervise, co-supervise and examine PhD dissertations.You will be expected to maintain a high profile as a leader in your academic field and promote enterprise and engagement at UEA.You will have a strong track record in coastal research and climate change. Interests could be in natural science, social sciences or engineering and concern the open coast and/or estuaries and associated coastal lowlands. An interest in holistic and system-level understanding of coasts would be welcome.You will have a demonstrable interest in coastal science and climate change, building upon the extensive coastal expertise in the Tyndall Centre, the School of Environmental Sciences and more widely at the University of East Anglia. There are extensive opportunities to engage more widely across the University, and in partnership with CEFAS (Centre for Environment. Fisheries and Aquaculture Science), to create appropriate research teams to tackle the diverse problems faced at the coast.This full-time post is available on an indefinite basis.UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working.
