Job Title: Ecology Centre Site Manager
Accountable to: General Manager
Employed by: The Ecology Centre
Salary: Range from £26,000-£28,000 pro rata
Pension: The Ecology Centre offers a pension scheme
Hours: 28-35 hours per week, hours dependent on applications
Location: The primary base will be The Ecology Centre, Kinghorn Loch & other locations as
required

Background: 

The Ecology Centre is the home of our inclusive, community-led, environmental charity. Situated
on the edge of Kinghorn Loch in Fife, the Ecology Centre enables people of all ages and
abilities to experience, learn and benefit from the natural world. Our work is driven by 5 key

activities include a low carbon cafe, dementia friendly workshops, garden tool up-cycling,
school group education, forest skills training and CPD, as well as for employability
certification, the Centre is a venue for a wide range of environmental and community
activities.

Purpose of role

In collaboration with the General Manager and other key stakeholders, the Site Manager will be
responsible for developing and delivering an Ecologically aligned strategic plan for all land
use with support. They shall also lead the Site Team.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and effectively implement a strategic plan for Ecological Estate land use and
    garden/community growing
  • Development of funding applications related to Ecological land management, and community
    growing including monitoring and reporting back to funders, stakeholder and the wider
    community
  • Line management/Leadership of Site Team and volunteers
  • Teach ecological values and environmental land skills to the Site Team and volunteers
  • Support and enable the education team as required
  • Work with the General Manager to oversee the implementation of the Ecologically driven land
    management plan for the site
  • Recruit and develop ecologically aligned volunteering opportunities onsite
  • Support communication strategies of the organisation
  • Be part of the Centres management Team
  • Cooperatively plan and host social gatherings, tours and educational workshops that promote
    the projects and overall aims of The Ecology Centre

Qualifications:

  • Minimum HND or Higher qualification in Environmental, Ecology or Sustainability subject
  • 5 years min preferred experience in a similar land management, strategic development, and
    implementation leadership role.
  • Knowledge of Growing to support a community garden site

This post will require some evening and weekend work, for which time in lieu will be available.
