UN Women rely on its owned social media platforms and UN Women – Ukraine website : UN Women Ukraine Twitter, English, UN Women Ukraine FB, Ukrainian, HeForShe_UA Instagram, Ukrainian for the communication of the UN Women Ukraine activities and results and promoting gender equality and women empowerment to the TAs, including: partners, donor organizations, governmental organizations, media, private sector, academia, beneficiaries, and the general public. Thus, UN Women Ukraine Country Office seeks a Digital Communication and Editorial Consultant for the period of 6 months, to support the communication team of the office in conducting a comprehensive social media audit, and compiling a short-term and long-term social media strategy as a part of the overall communication strategy, conduct social media training for the UN Women Ukraine communication team and provide ongoing support to UN Women Ukraine Comms team in the sphere of social media communication. 

The consultant will be reporting to Communications and Advocacy Analyst. 

Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work

  • Under the overall guidance of the UN Women Representative in Ukraine and a direct day-to-day supervision of the UN Women Communication and Advocacy Analyst, the National Consultant will implement a set of tasks, including, but not limited to:
  • Undertake a comprehensive audit of the UN Women Ukraine social media platforms, to include FB, Twitter/X, Instagram and website in order to evaluate the existing communication practices and performance, identify gaps and suggest improvements; 
  • In cooperation with UN Women Ukraine communication team, develop recommendations to enhance social media communication;
  • In cooperation with UN Women Ukraine communication team develop a 3-year Social Media Communication Strategy for all three owned social media platforms, including the scenarios and recommendation for the development of UN Women HeForShe Instagram account to enhance UN Women Ukraine presence and efficiency of the digital environment; 
  • Conduct Social Media trainings (at least 3) to further improve the internal capacity of the UN Women Ukraine Communication team in social media communication. 
  • Support UN Women Ukraine communication in the social media within the validity of the Contract;

Key Outputs

  • Monthly timesheets and brief narrative reports about implemented activities and achieved results with attached supporting documents submitted. 
  • Social Media Audit report, including recommendations for the social media communication;
  • 3-year Social Media Strategy for UN Women owned communication platforms;

Required Qualifications

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (for example, Digital Marketing, Communication, Data analysis and interpretation or a related field). An undergraduate degree in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree. 

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience managing social media, developing social media strategies, and building effective strategies for social media presence, content development, and performance evaluation with national and international brands, as well as NGOs
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)
  • Understanding of SEO and SEM
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress
  • Knowledge of analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media insights)
  • Proficiency with digital advertising platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager)
  • Graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) 
  • Understanding of gender responsive and gender sensitive communication is an asset

Languages:

  • Fluency in Ukrainian  and working knowledge of English
