The successful candidate will have the following:BA related to Education, Social Sciences or similar + TESL/ESL Certificate from a recognized institutionSupervisory experience an assetLINC/PBLA teaching experience an assetUnderstanding of Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLAAwareness of and empathy for issues facing new CanadiansSuperior communication and leadership skillsSkilled at working independently and within a team environmentExcellent organizational skills and ability to multi-taskCurrent Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John’s Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.Reliable transportation, as travel between sites is requiredEvidence of a clear criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector SearchThree professional referencesWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Duties and Responsibilities include:Supervision, observation and direction to all LINC staff (daytime & evening) including Substitute Instructors and Volunteers.New staff trainingTeacher coverage when necessaryTeacher support in the form of supplying resources, giving consultation and reporting observations with feedbackEnsure current and up-to-date certifications to all staff and volunteers; including recruiting and training volunteersTimesheet entry, payroll input and timely processingEngage in regular teacher check-insCoordinate staff meetings and professional development daysHelps organize presentations, guest speakers, space bookingsAssists with field trip logistics and reservationsRegular student intake, record processing and orientationsStudent issues including absences, issuance of letters, special requestsWeb page updates (Facebook)Regular meetings and check-ins with Newcomer ManagerConduct site inspection reportsWrite up government reports, proposals and special reports when requestedDevelop and conduct student surveysSet up of PBLA reviewLiaise with community representatives and develop working relations with external stakeholdersOther duties as assignedWhat qualities do we look for in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers?Our diverse team of staff and volunteers are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
