This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading law firm as a Business Development Specialist – International, supporting the firm’s global growth initiatives and referral strategy. Working closely with the Director, International Business Development & Client Engagement, you will play a key role in driving cross-border business development efforts and supporting high-impact projects with global reach.Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director to research, plan, and execute the firm’s international business development strategy
• Manage inbound and outbound referral processes, including recommending suitable international law firms for outbound referrals
• Support lawyers and practice/industry teams on international business development initiatives and attend group meetings as needed
• Oversee strategy and initiatives for assigned City & Market teams, working with lead lawyers to advance jurisdiction-specific goals
• Provide insights, share internal intelligence, and support alignment of international BD efforts across practice and industry groups
• Maintain relationships with international firm counterparts to facilitate referrals, introductions, and business development meetings
• Prepare professional-quality reports, dashboards, and presentations using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and others
• Monitor and report on legal market trends, global firm activity, mergers, and movement of key personnel
• Maintain and regularly update the intranet pages related to the firm’s international strategy and resources
• Identify and recommend technology solutions to streamline BD processes and improve efficiency
• Work with the Finance team to manage data collection related to referral tracking and analysis
• Partner with the Competitive Intelligence team on market and firm research
• Coordinate with the BD Technology team to ensure accuracy of international contact information in the firm’s CRM system

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Law, Library & Information Technology, or a related field
• 3–5 years of experience in business development within a law firm or professional services environment
• Familiarity with the global legal market and international law firm networks is preferred
• Strong team orientation and collaborative mindset
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Outlook, and Teams, with the ability to quickly learn new tools
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a focus on continuous improvement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build cross-functional relationships across the firm and globally
• High attention to detail and commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
