An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic practitioner to join our integrated safeguarding team as a specialist adult safeguarding practitioner. The team is made up of a range of professionals working to safeguard adults and children including the acute liaison nurses for Learning Disability, the Mental Health Lead nurse for the Trust and our safeguarding administration team.The specialist practitioner will work closely with the adult safeguard lead nurse and the wider safeguarding team. The specialist practitioner will provide advice and support for staff across all of adult safeguarding spectrum and drive forward service improvement throughout the Trust. The appointed individual will work with the adult safeguard lead nurse to deliver training throughout the Trust.We are looking for an individual who has some experience of safeguarding adults, who wants to develop their skills and competencies in safeguarding within a busy acute Trust, is flexible, tenacious and professionally curious around safeguarding.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will support the Trust lead nurse for safeguarding adults by,Providing professional and clinical leadership to the multi-disciplinary teams across the Trust and external partners, ensuring that processes to safeguard adults at risk, and the application of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) are delivered to a high standardProviding specialist advice to support and safeguard people at risk and high risk groups, as per the Mental Capacity Act and the Care Act 2014To work closely with the Safeguarding team around domestic abuse and attend relevant partnership meetingsTo be an active member of the safeguard team, contribute to the delivery of the safeguarding work plan, undertake audit and service developmentStrategically manage safeguarding adults issues across the organisation to ensure that the Trust complies with current legislation and local safeguarding governance arrangementsCollaborate with multi agency partners, patients and carers to support integrated patient centered pathways, make safeguarding personal and take account of what matters for the individual at riskAssist and continue to develop all adult safeguarding training in safeguarding adults, the Mental Capacity Act, Domestic Abuse, Prevent and DoLSBe responsible for the collection and reporting of safeguarding activity data for the Trust safeguarding governance purpose and the external regulatorsAbout usAbout usThe Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of hospital services for the population of Reading, Newbury, Wokingham and the towns and villages of west Berkshire.Reading sits on the River Thames and is served by great road and rail links to London, Oxford, and Southampton.
