We are looking for a Speciality Doctor to help us with our management of the Ophthalmic need in our catchment areas. This is a vacant post and is to support all sub-specialities, as well as provide injections, laser and Minor operations. Ability to provide cataract operating is desired. If you are able to fulfil this role then please get in touch and come and visit us.We are a small, friendly department and provide world class care in our two Ophthalmological surgical centres, at St Richard’s, Chichester and Southlands Hospital which is a state of the art centre, built in 2017. There has been a substantial investment in the service in recent years to help us manage our workload.Outside of work, West Sussex is an incredible place to live, offering a life on the South coast, with Southlands Hospital within walking distance of the sea. Life with us offers opportunities outside of work – please get in touch and come for a look around.Main duties of the jobThis post is an exciting opportunity for an experienced junior doctor in ophthalmology, to work within our department and to enhance basic skills and general ophthalmology knowledge.The doctor will be supervised by senior colleagues and consultants, learning to use specialised equipment, and developing their skills.There will be opportunities around being introduced to common surgical procedures and at least one theatre list will be incorporated in the timetable.The doctor will be encouraged to develop and lead on research and audit projects within our department and a session will be allocated for these activities.About usAt UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First.
