Job Description:This Sr. Manager role plays a pivotal role in closely collaborating with the executive team and leadership to support our business needs in line with Morgan’s business values and Pillars of Excellence.Situated at Morgan’s Corporate Office in Edmonton, Alberta, this position entails not only providing leadership to the corporate team but also setting the standard by leading by example and fostering trust among team members. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a deep background in human resource management and strategic planning, coupled with the demonstrated ability to effectively execute to deliver sustainable results.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain accountability for the execution and performance of corporate services including marketing, training, recruitment, HR, internal/external communications, administration and building maintenance; ensuring processes are effective to support the entire organization.
- Provide expert guidance on provincial employment standards, employment law, workers compensation, human rights, and privacy protection.
- Lead the ongoing delivery and integration of the Morgan Values and Morgan Pillars of Excellence to keep the programs fresh and relevant and ingrained in our culture.
- Lead and support Morgan’s recruitment and onboarding teams to ensure business needs are achieved and that candidates have a positive onboarding experience.
- Responsible to develop and implement leadership development and workforce training programs that are world class.
- Maintain and adhere to a budget for the Corporate Services Department, focusing on efficiency and cost control.
- Develop and implement talent acquisition strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives.
- Collaborate with department managers to understand and respond to workforce requirements and forecasts.
- Anticipate future business needs and ensure that marketing and recruitment strategies are aligned.
- Stay informed about market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in HR, applying this knowledge to improve corporate performance.
- Act as a point of contact for conflict resolution, employee relations, and workplace issues, providing guidance to managers and employees.
- Monitor employee engagement and morale, advising senior leadership on strategies to improve workplace culture.
- Continue to learn and remain current on the knowledge of market trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Develop relationships with Morgan leaders to enable strong communication networks and build trust within the organization.
- Guide the corporate team by modeling a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, creating a supportive atmosphere that drives productivity and mutual respect.
- Support and enhance corporate culture and act as a role model in actions and conduct.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resource Management, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in HR management, preferably in construction.
- Knowledge of full-cycle recruiting and employer branding techniques.
- Knowledge of U.S employment standards would be considered an asset.
- Strong communication, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with employment standards, temporary foreign workers, workers’ compensation, unions, human rights, and privacy regulations.
- Proven ability to build rapport and trust.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates honesty, ethical behavior, and dependability in all interactions.
