Our Marketing team is responsible for adapting strategic and commercially viable marketing programs from globally developed strategies, and contributing to retail executions for all of the brands in the Mattel portfolio (i.e. Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price). The Marketing team is the engine for Mattel Canada, acting as business managers, with responsibility for delivering business results through pricing, line selection, marketing communications, media investments and close partnership with all stakeholders in the business. In this team, you can expect to have a dynamic, fast paced, and nimble role where you have true accountability and team collaboration.Job DescriptionThe Opportunity:The Senior Marketing Associate is the steward for the brand and business, responsible for executing adapted strategic and commercially viable marketing programs and retail programs for the portfolio by collaborating closely with sales, trade marketing, our global marketing team and key external partners. You will stretch between executing item level detail and brand go-to-market strategies. In addition, you are empowered to identify opportunities to optimize sales and capture share, as well analyzing the competitive environment to assist in finding opportunities and identifying risks to maximize goals.What Your Impact Will Be:Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist in driving consumer demand at retail and throughout the organization by executing 360-degree marketing strategies and tactics that will ensure the achievement of corporate sales and profit goals.
  • Assist in developing an annual marketing plan that will include:
  • Business review and market analysis
  • Recommendations of business objectives both qualitative/quantitative
  • Specific strategies and tactics to accomplish the objectives covering all aspects of the marketing mix
  • Assist in driving brand growth (sales and profitability) through targeted product selection (forecasts and inventory), supported by detailed analysis of business elements such as: pricing, customer base and competition.
  • Assist in managing brand P&L and monitor spending to ensure expenditures are within budget and profit objectives are met
  • Assist in developing and monitoring sales forecasts or quotas on an on-going basis to assist in planning and manufacturing of product
  • Understand trade needs and retail operations to aid in driving the business team to meet their objectives. This will include consultation on special sales programs and competitive needs.
  • Monitor effectiveness of sales and marketing programs in achieving objectives.
  • Communicate with global team members, licensors and US contacts regularly.
  • Interface with functional departments of the company to ensure brand objectives are met:
  • Sales, Finance, Licensing
  • Planning, Quality Control, Customer Service
  • Advertising, Promotion and Public Relations agencies and Merchandising Team
  • U.S. & Global counterparts/Marketing departments etc.
  • Assist in facilitating innovative issue resolution. This should include ensuring the support and cooperation of other company departments in Canada and the U.S., as well as external suppliers and advertising agencies, etc.

QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For:Successful candidates have proven problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to gain insights and develop recommendations. You will be a creative thinker who can balance strategic thinking and executional impact with excellent planning, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.   • Bachelor Degree in Business or Marketing, MBA an asset
  • 2-3 years of brand marketing experience
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Manage complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of business priorities
  • Multi-task with the ability to switch between strategic thinking and day to day administrative tasks
  • High level of initiative, assertiveness and self-direction
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Build strong and sustainable business relationships internally and externally
  • Experience with developing 360-degree marketing and media campaigns to deliver business results
  • Excels in a team environment
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
