Position description

The (Sr) Operations Manager, Philanthropic Partnerships, will play a lead role in implementing the Philanthropic Partnership Team’s efficient and effective development operations. The Philanthropic Partnerships team focuses on obtaining unrestricted and institutional funds towards achieving IPA’s mission and vision. The (Sr.) Manager will primarily be responsible for facilitating the overall operations of the team, including maximizing database efficiency, maintaining important relationships with vendors and partners, supervising donor entry through management of the team associate, oversight and management of the mid-level giving outreach, with support from the full team, as well as stewardship of a select donor portfolio. 
Responsibilities 

30% – Resource Management and Database Oversight:

  • Manage accuracy of CRM database and produce reports for the team.
  • Manage Philanthropy Associate and supervise accurate database entry.

30% –  Executing Strategic Initiatives:

  • Work with other Philanthropic Partnership team members to establish and achieve short- and long-term goals for increasing unrestricted and strategic funding.
  • Be a thought partner in setting the annual fundraising strategy, including annual and multi-year planning, individual donor strategy, and partnership strategy.
  • Oversee and support senior staff in managing an existing portfolio of major donors, foundations, and prospects to resource IPA’s strategy for lasting impact on global poverty. 
  • In collaboration with IPA leadership, cultivate relationships between IPA and critical high net worth individuals, strategic partners, and other current and potential major donors aligned with IPA’s mission. 
  • Plan and execute excellent donor interactions and communications (e.g., newsletters, concept notes, webinars, videos, etc.) in collaboration with the team.
  • Support stewarded donor outreach campaigns. 

30% – Internal and External coordination: 

  • Manage reconciliation and shared goals with the Finance team.
  • Coordinate with programs teams on engagement events.
  • Draft reporting for briefing to Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors
  • Collaborate closely with the Policy, Communications, and other teams to create philanthropic partner-facing communications materials.
  • Stay abreast of IPA-related news and new studies, as well as philanthropic and business news that relates to portfolio and major giving generally, in order to be a knowledgeable representative of IPA who can share compelling pitches and stories with donors.

10% – Provide Excellent Stewardship:

  • DAF and Wealth Advisor Engagement, along with prospect and pipeline Development
  • Execute mid-level donor communications in collaboration with the Philanthropy associate. 
  • Manage relationships with vendors

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical skills and professional experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience within philanthropy or a related sector.
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
  • Successful track record in supporting philanthropic (or similar) plans and programs
  • Understanding of fundraising best practices to think strategically with managing relations and stewardship.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a high degree of professionalism and ease with people. 
  • Capacity to forge trusting relationships based on shared values and a sense of wanting to accomplish something together.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to visit funders and prospects

Preferred:

  • Professional experience in an international development-focused non-governmental organization (NGO).
  • Prior management experience.
  • Experience crafting individual donor communications.
  • Collaborative adaptable and versatile mindset, with strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or related non-profit focused CRM

Compensation:

IPA’s compensation structure is designed based on the labor market for the specific geographic location where the employee is located.  We are offering the following salary ranges for this position:

  • (Sr.) Manager is classified as “C3” on IPA’s global job structure.
  • For US-based employees, the starting annual gross salary is $77,600 with a maximum of $85,000
  • The salary for locations outside of the US will vary depending on IPA’s salary scale ranges for that specific location.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
