Statistician with Immunobiology, Nutrition & Toxicology under the Nutrition Research Division

The statistician will report to the Principal Investigator and play a critical role in supporting the statistical design and analysis of research studies. This includes Phase I & II clinical trials, environmental science, and epidemiological investigations. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in biostatistics, particularly in biological sciences, along with critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop statistical hypotheses and objectives, along with conceptual frameworks for research studies;
  • Perform data analysis using appropriate statistical tools, interpret findings, and report results in suitable formats for diverse audiences;
  • Design and manage databases for clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and environmental research while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance;
  • Support the data management team in consistency checks and data processing;
  • Provided statistical input for study protocols and grant applications;
  • Conduct statistical analysis and data modeling for manuscript and report preparation;
  • Apply machine learning techniques to enhance data interpretation and predictive modeling, including AI-based algorithm development for biological and epidemiological datasets;
  • Develop statistical analysis plans for project proposals and manuscripts and address reviewer comments with precise statistical justifications;
  • Provide training to researchers, data collectors, and interdisciplinary teams on research methodologies, protocols, and data management. Mentor junior researchers and contribute to capacity building within the institute.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics with an excellent academic record. A postgraduate degree in information communication technology (ICT) and multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals would be an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in public health (preferably with a focus on Biological Research).
  • Proficient in STATA, R, Python, SPSS, GraphPad Prism, and Epi Info.
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English and Bangla.
