Qualifications

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The mission of WHO’s Health Emergencies is to build the capacity of Member States to manage health emergency risks and, when national capacities are overwhelmed, to lead and coordinate the international health response to contain outbreaks and to provide effective relief and recovery to affected populations.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  1. Manage the inspection of all incoming consignments of medicines and equipment in terms of quality and quantity, verifying them against the purchase orders and shipping documents.
  2. Ensure the sharing of WHO goods information with warehouse staff to maintain the accuracy of the administrative stock database.
  3. Ensure a proper storage arrangement of drugs and medical supplies and equipment according to WHO Standard Operating Procedure for the Storage and Handling of Drugs, Medical Supplies, and Equipment.
  4. Undertake quality data entry of inbounds and outbounds of the goods stored in both warehouses in Kyiv through GIMS/BMS systems.
  5. Notify supervisors and prepare reports for pre-expired goods, goods delivered in a damaged condition or wrong quantities for initiating insurance claims or return of items.
  6. Maintain records and monitor receiving reports and delivery notes of medical supplies and equipment, including documents of local and global purchase orders.
  7. Maintain regular contacts with WHO Shipping officer to exchange on shipping documents compliance with the received goods.
  8. Participate in the timely delivery and distribution of medical supplies and equipment to Ministry of Health, clinics and other public health centers as well as WRO, based on the received requests and ensure appropriate receipts are received.
  9. Participate in periodical physical inspection of items in stock and give input for disposal of obsolete and old items. Prepare monthly report with stock positions expiry dates and the arrival of new stock.
  10. In collaboration with the logistics and procurement assistant, follow up with concerned parties for the receipt of deliverables and finalization of payments.
  11. Brief other store keepers on drugs storage SOPs.
  12. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education.
Desirable: Training related to the management and movement of medical goods.

Experience

Essential: At least three years of progressive experience in the area of warehouse operations, transportation and/or logistics.
Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system.

Functional Knowledge and Skills

  • Good excel skills and good knowledge of stock management systems (e.g BMS)
  • Good filing and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated time and stress management skills
  • Good knowledge of WHO rules, manuals, practices/procedures and routines is an asset

Other Skills

  • Ability to operate PC and good knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Knowledge of BMS/GSM/Oracle applications.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 16,694 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
