ROLE: STUDENT SUPPORT OFFICER
SALARY: £30,095 – £35,889 per annum + up to 10% bonus
CONTRACT: Permanent, Full Time (35 hours per week)
We are currently recruiting an engaging and compassionate Student Support Officer to be responsible for delivery of front-line (face to face and virtual) student and enquiry services at Teesside University London.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
An enthusiastic individual who can demonstrate a proactive approach to delivering an outstanding student experience through provision of a range of advice, guidance and support.
Your responsibilities will include provision of in person and virtual support to student and service enquiries. As a key element of the University’s pastoral support arrangements, you will form strong working relationships with colleagues across TU London, the University and Student and Library Services to refer students to specialist services in a timely and appropriate manner. The role involves being a visible presence on campus, supporting student focused events and contributing to presentations, workshops, training and awareness sessions for students and staff on relevant issues.
You will have knowledge and experience of working with clients on a one-to-one basis in a customer-focused environment, offering advice and support and agreeing appropriate interventions. You will have experience of managing a caseload, organising and prioritising activities, liaising with colleagues both internal and external to an organisation for the purposes of reaching positive resolution and keeping good quality records. A key requirement of the role is experience working with under-represented and a diverse range of individuals and groups.
Your skills and expertise will include the ability to develop supporting, empathic personal relationships with students within professional boundaries. You will demonstrate an open and supportive approach to teamwork, encouraging and supporting colleagues to deliver the best possible service for students. Excellent planning and organisational skills – ability to respond rapidly when needed and to work flexibly and under pressure is essential for this role.
