Reporting to the Operations Manager, Campus Services, the Supervisor, Campus Store & Course Materials is responsible for achieving assigned and developed goals and objectives through the effective supervision of Sheridan’s Campus Store, retail-on-campus and online stores. The incumbent will lead, procure and provide direction on the development of retail products that meet established College and department goals. Managing multiple retail campus locations and multiple product categories while optimizing selling space, inventory, sales mix, order completion and service delivery.What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing unit’s strategic and operational plans and aligning resources to deliver on priorities.
  • Delivering excellence in customer service through demonstration including prompt and reliable service standards and communication with all customer groups such as students, student groups, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.
  • Develops, researches, and identifies sales, collaboration, usage, and promotional opportunities, pursuing revenue-generating opportunities across all campuses for all areas of responsibility.
  • Plans, selects, and purchases Course Materials for resale in all Sheridan Campus Store on-campus and online storefronts while developing an intimate knowledge of all course materials needs to develop an annual purchasing plan, including category management and development with key stakeholders.
  • Reviewing existing inventory to ensure inventory levels are accurate, products remain completive in the marketplace, maintain a consistent inventory turn and remain current with emerging products and needs of the customer base.
  • Establishing and managing vendor relationships at the store to exceed customer expectations with products and service offerings and maintains security of retail goods in store and storage areas in accordance with loss prevention policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring effective and efficient allocation of fiscal, human, and physical resources within the portfolio, including monitoring, analyzing, reviewing, and optimizing the Retail/ Campus Store’s financial performance.
  • Monitoring profit margins, cost of goods sold, expenses, inventory turn and other relevant benchmarking metrics, and reports performance to Director.
  • Developing, coordinating, monitoring and updating plans for effective implementation of all facets of annual Campus Services Marketing, Communication, and Operational plans.
  • Assisting with the preparation and updates of annual budget and operational plans, including goal setting, as well as projections of costs and year-end contribution to College overhead.
  • Maintaining security of retail goods in store and storage areas in accordance with loss prevention policies and procedures and is responsible for POS procedures at the checkout to ensure accuracy.
  • Responsible for organizing year-end inventory counts and monitoring reconciliation of sales session, deposits, and financial data required for payment of invoices.
  • Providing leadership, support and direction to staff and student employees to support an environment of growth, collaboration, productivity, and high performance.
  • Ensures Human Resource activities (e.g. recruitment, interviewing, payroll) are followed utilizing established processes, including attendance management, performance management administration and training requirements; complies with Collective Agreements and Administrative Terms & Conditions of Employment.
  • Working with the Director to develop and implement a short and long-term Strategic plan for course materials, aligned with the goals of retail service and the mission of Sheridan College.
  • Performing other projects, duties and initiatives as assigned.

  • Must possess a minimum 3-year diploma/degree in Business, Marketing Finance, Accounting or related field and 5 years of experience as a senior practitioner, technical advisor/consultant/supervisor (leader) with demonstrated (equivalencies considered):
  • Marketing or entrepreneurial experience leading new initiatives with various stakeholders
  • Sales and negotiation skills
  • Financial accounting and analysis experience
  • Course Material/Retail Point of Sale knowledge and Bookware system knowledge
  • Direct experience in a post- secondary setting (working with senior leaders, staff and students)
  • Project Leadership experience

Work Categorization: Hybrid Position | It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work agreement with 3-4 days on-site and 1-2 days remote. Please note that on-site work 5 days a week will be required during peak periods.
