The Supervisor, Shift Scheduling ensures accuracy and efficiency of work performed by Scheduling Specialists, and provides leadership in workflow management, problem resolution and training.Job DescriptionLanguage Requirements: Bilingual (English and French), in accordance with Civil Aviation Regulations and or Official Languages requirements in order to either provide services to clients, the Public and or, to supervise and provide services to employees in the official language of their choice.What NAV CANADA offers you:Challenging, team-oriented work environmentCompetitive compensation and benefitsDefined benefit pension planOpportunities for growth and developmentFlexible work arrangementsDiverse and inclusive workforceKey Accountabilities:Supervise Scheduling Specialists by assigning duties, monitoring workflow, and ensuring that work is completed accurately and on time.Provide expert advice and guidance to Scheduling Specialists regarding complex scheduling issues by conducting research, consulting with management, and conducting follow-ups.Provide advice as the unit expert on ESS and associated standards, processes and procedures.Assess Scheduling Specialists technical proficiency by applying the Quality Training Program and recommend training where appropriate.Develop, publish, support, and maintain operational employee schedules on a daily and scheduled basis in a complex Scheduling environment.Provide Internal Management support by planning, revising, and organizing Shift Schedules to ensure compliance with provisions of collective agreements and other governing directives and regulations.Coordinating and conducting daily / monthly / yearly close functions in ESS.Compile data verify database information and prepare reports from schedules and daily work sheets on leave and sick leave.Coordinating with MSO and Specialty / Site Managers to run simulations for scheduling options ensuring all collective agreements are adhered to and are optimized to the most efficient way possible.Provide training to new users of the Automated Scheduling Tool to both local and remote employees and managers.EducationSuccessful completion of secondary school or an approved equivalentExperience:5 years experience in shift scheduling.Experience using the Employee Scheduling Tool (ex: ESS).Experience working with various collective agreements.Knowledge:Knowledge of automated scheduling tool (Employee Scheduling System).Knowledge of various collective agreementsKnowledge of NCJC and Canada Labor Code guidelines and regulations.Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures relating to shift scheduling.Abilities:Ability to provide training to new users of the Automated Scheduling Tool (ESS).Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.Ability to prioritize work tasks and adaptable to quickly changing requirementsAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to provide advice to management and represented employees.Personal Suitability:Team leadership skills.Coaching and mentoring skills.Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to formulate creative ideas and solutionsGood organization skillsAttention to detail.Negotiation skillsDemonstrates professionalism and tact within team and with all stakeholdersWorking Conditions:This position will be responsible for supervising shift scheduling in the Montreal Flight Information Region and will be required to work hours consistent with this time zone.Shift Work RequiredNAV CANADA is recruiting top talent across Canada, and we are offering the flexibility for new team members to work remotely.NAV CANADA is committed to building a skilled, diverse workforce reflective of Canadian society.
