As a survey engineer you will join the Geodetic Metrology group at CERN, where you will take part in the metrology and alignment of a wide variety of components used in the particle accelerators. You will be using state-of-the-art surveying tools and software to achieve the sub-millimetre accuracy necessary to achieve our goals.

Specifically, you will:

  • Perform the alignment of various accelerators components in the injector complex and LHC tunnel, ensure the maintenance of the related geodetic networks; 
  • Perform metrology measurements at all stages during the assembly of accelerator components using laser trackers;
  • Perform and compute “as built” measurements of tunnels and buildings of HL-LHC project using the laser scanner technology;
  • Write the corresponding survey reports, and manage the relevant documentation; 
  • Improve and optimize related survey procedures, methods and software. 

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Technical skills:

  • Experience using high-precision survey methods and tools: laser tracker, optical and digital levels, total station;
  • Experience with standard compensation software: theories, concepts and algorithms related to the least square adjustment;
  • Initial experience with Laser Scanning;
  • Initial experience in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings will be highly appreciated;

  • Demonstrating Flexibility: Adapting quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities and requirements. Actively participating in the implementation of new processes and technologies;
  • Working in teams: working well in groups and readily fitting into a team; participating fully and taking an active role in team activities;

Language skills: 

  • Fluent in French, the ability to work in English would be an advantage.
