Job description

Dawson Civil is looking for a well-rounded, highly skilled, and motivated Surveyor who will be responsible for performing field surveys, initial construction assessment of new projects including pick-up and layout, interpreting plans, creating/managing survey files and providing on site mentorship to junior surveyors and grade personel.In this role you will be a key individual supporting all areas of Dawson Civil from project estimating to execution. You will be a valued member of Dawson Civil, working in a full-time position of Surveyor, reporting to the Manger, Survey. Your base location will be Kamloops, BC.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
  • Perform field surveys, including construction staking, topographic, design, volumetric and control surveys
  • Accurately record measurements and other data, prepare field notes, perform quality control for survey work
  • Interpreting plans and performing calculations
  • Creating and managing survey files
  • Verify existing and set new survey control as required

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Safety focused and ensuring that safety is your top priority
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Experience with GPS and Total Station equipment is required
  • Variety of surveying experience including civil construction or legal land surveying
  • Knowledge of all other general surveying techniques and equipment would be considered an asset
  • Ability to interpret and use information from maps, graphic drawings and measurements taken in the field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editing software
  • Basic knowledge of CADD software including Civil 3D and Trimble Business Centre
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Motivated and self-reliant to work independently and as a key team member
