Contract: Permanent, Full time
Salary: £50,000-£55,000 per annum + company car + private healthcare +

What will you be responsible for?
As a Sustainability Manager, you’ll be working within the Commercial team, supporting them by
leading the delivery of our environmental and sustainability commitments, advising our team on
the legal, client and company requirements and procedures ensuring to ensure all the required
environmental compliance obligations, objectives and targets are met. You will drive our
sustainability agenda on the contract to support the client’s aspiration to be carbon neutral
by 2030 and Kier Transportations commitment to be net zero on scope 1 and 3 emissions by 2030.
Your day to day will include:
- Ensuring the project application of the Kier Group integrated management system to meet the
requirements of ISO 14001:2015 - Providing support, guidance, and assistance with obtaining environmental consents, licenses
and exemptions required by legislation, guaranteeing compliance with those permits, licenses,
and consents conditions - Carrying out documented site inspections and audits of the project and ensure compliance to
applicable environmental legislation is maintained, undertaking environmental incident
investigations as required ensuring effective close out of corrective and preventative actions
to prevent reoccurrence - Carrying out environmental assessments of Kier designed schemes to ensure all compliance
requirements are met and relevant mitigation is in place, working with our operational and
commercial teams to facilitate the trial of new innovations, including more sustainable
materials, capture the results and support the move to business as usual where successful - Working with operational and commercial colleagues to ensure the timely collection and
collation of environmental data for client and other reporting requirements (such as regulatory
reporting), raising awareness of key environmental issues, identify training needs, and deliver
environment and sustainability training
What are we looking for?
This role of Sustainability Manager is great for you if:
- You are educated to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent), you will be a
professional or full level member of IEMA or equivalent with good knowledge and practical
experience of statutory environmental requirements, including requirements relating to all the
key areas associated with environmental assessments of highway construction works - Have experience of working in an environmental management role, within a construction
environment, which will include assessing / identifying the environmental impacts associated
with proposed works and being able to identify potential risks / issues on site and advise on
appropriate control / mitigation measures - Bring good knowledge and practical experience of maintaining, implementing, and improving
EMSs certified to BS EN ISO 14001, practical experience of carrying out compliance inspections
and / or audits resulted in improved performance, experience of liaising with stakeholders
including statutory bodies, completing environmental permit or consent applications, collecting
and collating environmental data including carbon
