System Analyst

University of Bristol

The University of Bristol is one of the most popular and successful universities in the UK, ranked in the world’s top 60 in the QS World University Rankings 2021. Our workforce puts us in the top 3 largest employers in Bristol. Finance Services is one of the biggest Professional Services Divisions within UoB, with 18 different teams working to deliver full-scale operational and financial planning services required for a nearly 8000 strong, research intense organisation.

The Finance and HR Systems Team play an essential role within the Division, ensuring that key business and operational processes are maintained and enhanced to support the changing needs of the University. Our 4 sub teams deliver dedicated user support, application development, as well as reporting and training for the University’s ERP System and other smaller applications used across the organisation. Finance and HR Systems work with colleagues and suppliers to ensure the effectiveness of our applications, as well as IT Services to align to the University’s Digital Strategy.

As a System Analyst you will be a key part of a team of five, with responsibility for supporting and enhancing applications such as the University’s MyERP (Agresso/Unit 4) solution; the platform used for Finance, HR and Payroll operations.

You will provide 3rd line application support for MyERP, configuring changes, delivering data solutions, providing fixes for tickets, as well as supporting other members of the team in the delivery of excellent customer service.

There will be the opportunity to work with a variety of internal stakeholders at different levels to support and enhance key processes and user experience. You will also engage with external stakeholders via virtual conferences and customer forums to contribute to knowledge transfer and training content.

The University is currently operating a blended working policy which means you will get flexibility around working arrangements. You would need to come into the office a minimum of once a week, on a Thursday when the Finance and HR Systems Team have a team day. You will have the opportunity to work in the office on additional days of the week if you choose, but the arrangement offers excellent flexibility for staff.

  • Assessing day to day requirements around fixes and supporting a variety of contacts such as super users, product owners and 3rd parties to make changes and resolve complex issues
  • Using your technical knowledge to design, develop and test solutions and configuration changes within MyERP and other University applications
  • Providing 3rd line technical support to meet service level agreements and maintain excellent customer service
  • Collaborating with your team, as well as other stakeholders both internally and externally
  • You hold a professional qualification or degree in computing, or have vocational experience which demonstrates equivalent professional development
  • You understand service management including incident, problem, change and configuration management
  • Your oral and written communication skills are sharp in relaying technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • You have configuration experience of Unit 4 Business World/Agresso in a large organisation
