HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Designs server and application architectures; performs administrative operation and maintenance functions of server hardware and software.

  • Maintains system security and executes common practices and procedures; monitors usage statistics and logs; monitors and remedies attempt to penetrate or corrupt server files.

  • Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings.

  • Institutes troubleshooting and incident response procedures. Troubleshoots system related problems.

  • Provides team leadership and guidance to less experienced administrators.

  • Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications.

  • Recommends future direction or projects to management.

  • Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Linux experience and certifications in RedHat Enterprise Linux.

  • Security+ certification (DoD 8140 requirement).

  • Experience with VMware and/or other virtualized systems.

  • Database SQL/PostGres/Redis experience.

  • Coding or scripting experience.

  • Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through.

  • Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experience.

Security Clearance Level:

  • TS/SCI (Required)

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Windows System and server experience.

  • Detail oriented and organized; ensure accuracy of work.

  • Pursues ongoing education in technical topics.

  • Good business communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Containerization experience.

  • Agile/DevOps/GitLab experience or certification.

The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 – $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
