Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tax Director/Manager in Houston, Texas. In this strategic role, you will oversee all aspects of the company’s tax strategy, compliance, and planning. Your main job function will involve developing and implementing tax strategies, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing guidance on tax-related matters to internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s tax strategy, compliance, and planning.
• Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of all required tax returns, including federal, state, and local income tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and other regulatory filings.
• Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess the potential impact on the company’s tax strategy and operations.
• Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on tax-related matters, including financial planning, mergers and acquisitions, and business expansion initiatives.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies as needed to address tax-related issues and inquiries.
• Lead and develop a team of tax professionals, providing coaching, mentoring, and training to support their professional growth and development.
• Collaborate with finance, legal, and executive leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that align with the company’s overall financial objectives.
• Prepare and present tax-related reports and presentations to senior management and the board of directors as needed.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures related to tax matters and support the company’s overall risk management efforts. Requirements • Proven experience in a corporate tax director or manager role
• Expertise in tax compliance and corporate tax compliance
• Proficiency in implementing tax planning strategies
• Experience in tax structuring and corporate income tax
• Knowledge and understanding of sales tax and property tax
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities
• Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor) preferred
• Ability to stay updated with industry trends and legislation changes
• Aptitude for detailed and meticulous work.
