An opportunity has arisen to join the Centre for Medical Education as a Teacher – Welsh Medium Provision increasing its Welsh/English bilingual academic faculty. The candidate will work closely with the programme team, staff, students and external stakeholders to deliver evidence-based education and to support the student through their educational journey.
The successful candidate will deliver teaching in the undergraduate MBBCh programme, including the development, delivery and evaluation of modules/programmes specifically through the medium of Welsh/bilingually.
The post-holder will be a part of a wider community of academic staff at Cardiff University and throughout Wales who are working towards the realisation of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s goal of securing full status for the Welsh language as a medium of teaching and research within the university sector. The role is specifically needed to facilitate Case Based Learning groups so will need to be able to commit to specific teaching hours on Mondays/Fridays in the Autumn semester and Tuesdays/Fridays in the Spring semester (September until June).
They will also supervise and support undergraduate students and to carry out academic administrative duties within the programmes as required; pursuing excellence in teaching and inspiring others to do the same.
Applicants should possess a Postgraduate qualification at level 7 (or equivalent) in a biomedical or healthcare related subject or relevant experience, proven teaching ability at undergraduate/postgraduate level via a teaching qualification, excellent bilingual (Welsh/English) communication skills and the ability to present complex and conceptual ideas clearly and confidently to others using high-level skills and a range of media
Key to the role is the ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to students, appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances and to act as a personal tutor in both Welsh and English.
Fluency in Welsh is essential for this role.

This post is variable hours (anticipated hours are 168 a year, work pattern to be agreed) is open ended and available immediately.
Salary: £36,333 – £43,155 per annum, pro rata (Grade 6), but please note that it is anticipated the maximum starting salary for this post will be £35,333 per annum, pro-rata.
