DescriptionTHE CONTINUING EDUCATION AND BUSINESS SERVICES OF CÉGEP DE ST-FÉLICIEN is looking to hire teachers for the Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) « Special Needs Education – Aboriginal and Inuit Children – JNC.12 ».2024-2025
Daytime schedule, Monday to Friday (6 hours per day).The training program will be given in Kawawachikamach, a Naskapi village located in the administrative region of Northern Quebec.Courses

  • Special needs educator: a profession (45 hours);
  • Legal and ethical aspects of the profession (45 hours);
  • Early childhood and childhood development (90 hours);
  • Developmental differences and delays in children (75 hours);
  • Learning differences and delays in children (75 hours);
  • Behavioural differences and delays in children (75 hours);
  • Assessment of the child’s needs and his/her environment (90 hours);
  • Networks and partnerships (60 hours);
  • The intervention process – includes an optional two-week work placement in Montreal/Kahnawake (135 hours);
  • Group dynamics (45 hours);
  • Intervention plans (90 hours);
  • Practicum (90 hours). *

The delivery method is in person, taking place in the local school, and in English. Lodging and travel are provided.ExigencesRequirements
Hold a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychoeducation, psychology or any other combination of education and relevant experience.Specific requirements

  • Have significant professional experience in special needs education in a childcare centre or school environment or/and with a clientele with special needs.
  • Have relevant experience in First Nations or Inuit communities.
  • Possess complete professional ability in the English.
  • Mastering the Naskapi language will be considered an important asset.
  • Have great autonomy and excellent adaptability.
  • Demonstrate great intercultural sensitivity.
  • Have an excellent command of information and communication technologies.
  • Be available to move in the community for the duration of the program.
