The Department of Geography has a vacancy for a Teaching & Learning Administrator to work in collaboration with Department Tutors, Programme Convenors, Teaching & Learning Managers and Department Manager in delivering a high quality administrative and student experience service to UG students specifically.Although support to UG programmes and students is key to the role, it is not exclusively focused on these and the post holder will be expected to work as a member of the Department’s professional services team to support the Department’s full range of teaching and events throughout the year.The role will involve contact and communication with students and the general public. You will be the first point of contact for students in person and by email; will maintain student records, set up and monitor student attendance records and learning agreements, service staff-student consultative committees and Examination Boards, a nd more.The Department of Geography is truly international in both its outlook and in its membership, with students and staff from over 40 countries. We have over 400 students on our undergraduate programmes, more than 180 Masters students across 10 programmes, and approximately 90 PhD candidates. The Department has a long and distinguished tradition of top-quality cross and interdisciplinary research with social scientists, climate modellers, data scientists, urbanists, environmental scientists and geoscientists all working on a huge variety of projects across the domains of Environment, Resources, Heritage, Social Science. More information can be found here:You will have experience of providing a support service to students or to customers, in an environment where you responded proactively and appropriately to the needs of others. Experience of administration within a Higher Education Institution or in a similar role in education working with advanced learners is desirable, but not essential.You must have a proactive approach and will be able to work independently as well as part of a team within a relaxed and friendly environment. You should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills alongside the ability to communicate well and handle a wide range of enq uiries. The successful candidate must have strong IT skills and be able to work with a high degree of accuracy.A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students from all backgrounds and cultures is also key.This is a full time, permanent position, available to start mid-January 2025.
