A teaching assistant is needed for a special educational needs (SEN) school in Andover for nursery and primary school students aged 3-11.As a teaching assistant, you will support students with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) who may have complex needs and learning difficulties.Being a teaching assistant at this school, you will become a part of a highly supportive team with exceptional senior leadership and fantastic resources.Willingness to do personal care is preferred.Your responsibilities as a teaching assistant may include:

• Working with and supporting students with ASD.
• Providing academic support, either one-on-one or in a small group.
• Promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture and providing emotional support when needed.
• Implementing positive behaviour management strategies which may include physical restraints, to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self-control and assisting teachers with implementing a Positive Behaviour Support framework.
• Assisting teachers with alternative teaching methods, such Lego therapy to encourage joint working and communication skills, or intensive interaction sessions to help pupils develop attention and interaction skills.
• Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

To be a teaching assistant, you will need:

• The right to work in the UK.
• A clear and up-to-date DBS
• Experience working as a Teacher in a UK school.
• A passion to support students with ASD and a keen interest in child development.
