Open-ended contract (permanent) available from September 2024Location – Usher Building, 5-7 Little France Rd, EH16 4UXThe Master of Public Health (MPH) Online programme at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Teaching Fellow to teach on the MPH.The Opportunity:The Teaching Fellow is responsible for delivering postgraduate level, online distance learning teaching on the online MPH programme: delivering online teaching, supervising course tutors, setting and marking assessments, reviewing and updating course materials, attending exam boards, supervising master’s dissertations and supporting students as an academic cohort lead. The role requires a blend of academic and team working skills to successfully deliver the online Cert/Dip/Master of Public Health. The post holder will work with the existing Co-Directors and programme team to further develop and deliver course materials and assess student performance. This will include academic and pastoral support of students. While the programme is delivered online, all applicants must be able to work in the Edinburgh BioQuarter based office a minimum of two days per week.Informal enquiries may be directed to Dr Evgeniya Plotnikova, Lecturer at evgeniya.plotnikova@ed.ac.uk.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD in an appropriate subject, an MPH and/or expertise in a relevant public health field.
  • Public health and social science expertise, preferably health policy, migration health and health economics
  • Achievement of, or planning to work towards, qualification in higher education teaching
  • Experience of university teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and of teaching online
  • Experience of, or demonstrable interest in, curriculum development, the design and development of courses and innovative teaching methods.
